Either before or after making the shot of espresso, you separately froth the milk. Many espresso machines with boast a frother, but it’s typically manual. On top of the automatic grinder, tamper, and water heater, the Anima boasts an automatic frother. The Gaggia Anima is one in a long line of espresso machines, and it takes the words “SuperAutomatic” to a wonderful level, especially for coffee drinkers who love a good mixed drink. Gaggia has been in the coffee-making game for a long time and Achilles Gaggia definitely knew the needs of the industry before he started making espresso machines - he started off owning a cafe in Italy. Plus, if you go for it, you’ll have a cool machine that does it all on your very own kitchen counter.Ī machine that makes you coffee. You’d be living the dream. If this hypothetical is astonishingly close to reality, considering a super-automatic espresso machines seems like a decent investment, right? It’s not the right course of action for everyone, it’s definitely worth considering if you’re doing the math on your yearly coffee spend and nearly having a heart attack. Without tax (or the carb-based goodie you pointed at behind the glass), that’s $70 a week. We’ll pick a medium in between an iced coffee and a fancier number and say this fictional drink costs $3.50. Let’s say that 5 days a week you grab a coffee from Starbucks. They basically take the place of that dreamy in-house barista we would all love to have but, unlike that in-house barista, are much more likely to save you some cash in the long run. This is where a solid argument can be made about Super-Automatic Espresso Machines. I mean, kind of right, but it doesn’t have to be. It gets pricey hittin’ up the nearest drive-thru coffee place every morning for years on end, but it feels required when you thrive on a milk-based espresso drink, right? If you’re on the edge and could be persuaded to drop the moola for a machine this all-inclusive, I have just the right argument to warrant a purchase of this caliber, and it all begins with a simple question: how often do you buy espresso-based coffee drinks or some form of espresso shot from a specialized store? The catch with those is, respectively, that you need skill to extract a great shot of espresso and that the espresso isn’t as delicious as the more hands-on or SuperAutomatic machines. You’re better off looking at some of espresso machines over here in a more moderate price range, or possibly looking at a Nespresso machine if you’d prefer a hands-off approach without the extra dollar signs. If you’re not mentally prepared to drop a grand on a coffee machine, no matter how valuable it is in the long run, this type of machine isn’t going to be for you. I could talk around it, but the fact of the matter is that SuperAutomatic Espresso machines are pricey. All you have to do is reload the beans and water when the machine runs out. SuperAutomatic machines are the automated version of the aforementioned process-the machine is designed to grind the beans to the perfect fineness, it tamps it down without any input, and heats the water to the ideal brewing temperature without any fuss.īy SuperAutomatic, we mean just that: it’s automatically does everything. It’s a lot to ask of your mental awareness in a pre-coffee consumption state. The beans have to be ground just so, tamped down just so, the water has to be heated just so, and you have to learn tips and tricks to reach this “just so” for each machine. With many espresso machines on the market, there’s a definitive amount of scrupulous work that has to be put into getting a good shot of espresso. If you’ve used a less “super” machine to make espresso, even ones that are lauded for being advanced like the ones here, you know exactly why a SuperAutomatic machine is so drool-worthy.
